Dedicated lecturers who are the staff of QI Group’s university in Perak, Malaysia, Quest International University (QIU) have been providing coaching and free tuition classes to local students from underprivileged backgrounds.
The six-month coaching, which began in February, was offered to students who will be sitting for their high school examination this year.
The free classes were offered on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm to the students from SMK Datuk Haji Abd Wahab and SMK Muhibbah, Sungai Siput (U) as well as girls from the Maharani Learning Lab (MLL).
QIUP Faculty of Medicine Dr Bhupinder Kaur said the experience was rewarding.
“I am a former student of SMK Datuk Haji Abd Wahab and I am glad that I could come back to teach the students. I look forward to more of such activities to give back to the community,” she said.
The lecturers who come voluntarily also prepare their own teaching materials.
They work closely with the students to identify their weaknesses in the subjects and work on improving and preparing them for the examination.
