How can we encourage more youth in agriculture? In an opinion piece published in The Sun, RYTHM Foundation Chairperson Datin Sri Umayal Eswaran explores how technology, entrepreneurship and sustainable farming can attract youth to the sector while strengthening food security across Southeast Asia.
The article features RYTHM Foundation’s Green Skills Project with Plan International Indonesia in Manggarai. In its first year, the project engaged 209 young people, 53% of whom were women. Training in climate-smart agriculture, financial literacy and gender equality helped participants develop skills to cultivate their land, generate income and reach new markets.
From digital farming tools to urban agriculture, the piece highlights opportunities to support youth in agriculture and build sustainable livelihoods.
