Volunteers brought along tongs, garbage bags and plastic gloves to pick up garbage that was left behind by holidaymakers. Volunteers picked up countless cigarette butts, plastic bottles, plastic cups, plastic beach toys, plastic straws and even cable ties by the shore.
A volunteer, Elvie said the beauty of the beach was tarnish by garbage left behind by individuals who didn’t care much for the environment. “The beach at East Coast was full of cigarette butts. It was sad to see these rubbish easily getting into the ocean and harming sea creatures. I am also now inspired to start my own beach clean up with my family and friends.”
