RYTHM Foundation recently hosted 200 secondary schoolgirls in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, for an inspiring three-day experience at the most extensive Maharani School Programme or MSP Camp since the pandemic.
The camp, rich with learning, bonding, and self-discovery, marked a pivotal moment in the participants’ development. The event was a vital part of the second phase of the MSP in the state, involving five schools from the Seremban district: SMK Dato’ Kelana Putra, SMK Dato’ Shahardin, SMK Felda Seri Sendayan, SMK Mantin, and SMK Puteri.
The MSP, supported by the Education Ministry, focuses on empowering adolescent girls by providing them with academic assistance and opportunities for personal development. The goal is to help them build confidence, develop leadership abilities, and unlock their full potential.
Negeri Sembilan is the second state after Selangor to adopt the flagship initiative, a milestone that underscores the MSP’s success and potential for broader implementation across Malaysia.
Each activity, from outdoor challenges to collaborative discussions, was thoughtfully crafted to help the 15-year-olds recognise their strengths, set future goals, and develop teamwork, character, and critical thinking skills.
In addition to the camp’s core activities, the host school, SMK Dato’ Kelana Putra, organised a motivational talk for all its students, including boys. This additional session highlighted the programme’s broader influence, inspiring not only the camp participants but also the entire school community.
The camp proved transformative for many attendees. Fifteen-year-old Nurul Afika Amirul from SMK Mantin noted, “This camp has been life-changing. I learned so much about working with others and building my confidence.”
Similarly, Thivyah Uthayakkumar from SMK Dato’ Shahardin said the camp helped her discover strengths she did not know she had.
“The activities were both enjoyable and demanding. I now feel more confident and prepared for future challenges.”
The Head of RYTHM Foundation, Santhi Periasamy, reflected on the camp’s success: “We are delighted by the profound impact this experience has had on the girls. Expanding the MSP to Negeri Sembilan has allowed us to reach more young girls and help them realise their full potential.
“By bringing the MSP to more schools, we can help more girls realise their full potential. It is a testament to our commitment to empowering young girls and positively impacting their lives,” Santhi added.
Since its introduction in 2010, the MSP has impacted over 8,000 students. The holistic programme is designed for 13- to 17-year-olds and prioritises students from marginalised communities. It aims to empower these young individuals to overcome challenges and succeed in their educational and personal lives through academic support and personal development initiatives.
Through initiatives like the MSP, RYTHM Foundation continues its mission to positively shape the lives of young people, helping them navigate adolescence and emerge as capable, confident leaders of tomorrow.
