Weathered faces lit up with joy as QI Singapore staff visited St John’s Home for Elderly Persons as part of their Staff Social Responsibility (SSR) programme.
Over 90 residents at the home were entertained by the staff who cheered them up with fun activities and goodie bags filled with essentials such as 3-in-1 coffee and Milo, biscuits, soap bars, and bath and face towels. These goodie bags were packed by the participating staff themselves the day before their visit.
The presence of the 16 QI staff filled the home with laughter as they led the elderly in taking part in a number of activities including a singing and dancing session.
The staff also got to spend some quiet time with the elderly folks, listening to their stories, and providing them with words of encouragement. They also helped clean and tidy up the home before leaving.
Moved by their heart-warming stories, the staff made a pledge to pay them a visit at least twice a year during the festive seasons and more visits in between, if time permits.
St John’s Home for Elderly Persons, established in December 1958, shelters residents aged 60 and above, with the mission to provide shelter and care for senior citizens who have no home or suitable accommodation, and no children or close relatives who have adequate resources to look after them. The Home is open to all regardless of race or creed.
