Taarana School, a centre for special education needs managed and operated by RYTHM Foundation, recently hosted its Annual Day, highlighting its students’ growth, resilience, and achievements. Families, teachers, and supporters gathered to reflect on the progress made by the school’s community.
As customary every year, the celebration focused on the children’s performances, showcasing their growth and dedication.
The event began with a performance of the Gingerbread Man, followed by a series of dances that took the audience through music from the 1950s to the 1990s.
Next was an impressive performance by Nur Adiena Maysara, who joined Taarana in June 2023 after her autism diagnosis. Her remarkable progress, supported by the school and her family, was evident as she delivered a soulful rendition of the pop ballad Broken Angel, earning a standing ovation.
The programme also featured “We Can Do It Too!” where students showcased physical exercises that help improve motor skills, balance, and coordination.
The Recycling Fashion Show was another highlight, where students showcased outfits made from discarded materials, reflecting the school’s new “Zero Waste @ Taarana” initiative and commitment to sustainability.
Datin Sri Umayal Eswaran, Chairperson of RYTHM Foundation, emphasised the importance of inclusivity, stating, “Every child deserves the opportunity to discover their potential. By nurturing their strengths – whether in academics, the arts, or life skills – we are helping them build meaningful futures.”
Taarana’s principal, Dr Sunitha Sivakumaran, shared her pride in the students’ achievements: “You continue to amaze us with your creativity and resilience. Witnessing your growth is a privilege.”
The Annual Day was also attended by QI Group Founder and Executive Chairman Dato’ Sri Vijay Eswaran, members of the QI Board of Directors, and senior executives.
Taarana, which means ‘awakening’ in Sanskrit, was established in 2011 to address the urgent need for resources and support for children with developmental disabilities and their families.
