QI Hong Kong staff partnered with Changing Young Lives Foundation to organise a fun-filled English class for underprivileged children to improve their communication skills. The children aged between 7 and 12, had an enjoyable time learning English in a fun way.
Our volunteers helped create a unique experience for the 20 students to learn English interactively, including through singing songs and games.
To make the class more effective, our volunteers were divided into groups to teach the students simple self-introductions, techniques to improve confidence in public speaking and delivering mini-presentations.
A volunteer, Suzanna Chan said the children a great time learning English in a fun and interactive way. “They were shy at the beginning but they ended up more willing to engage and interact towards the end of the learning process,” says Suzanna Chan.
Another volunteer, Priscilla Yuen said it was very meaningful being able to spend time with the students who were eager to learn. “It was a heart-warming activity and we had a good time engaging with them to practice both verbal and written English.”
The Changing Young lives Foundation strives to improve the lives of underprivileged children by providing educational support and self-developmental programs to help the children realise their full potential and become successful in life.
