Showing that we care.
Other than empowerment, as part of the trip, there was a brief history of Tai O and how to revitalise the local community and preserve their heritage. One of the activities carried out was learning to produce traditional handcraft food, such as salted eggs. Other than that, a local-styled lunch was prepared at a traditional hut – a stilt house.
There was also a cultural walk which included touring the traditional village and listening to local history.
Working together.
The objective of this particular CSR initiative was for staff to uplift and engage the villagers, as well as to help them advance as a community in a dynamic world. The essence of RYTHM Foundation – Raise Yourself To Help Mankind – is nicely captured through this initiative.
In the words of our Principal Trustee, Vijay Eswaran, “Our purpose… is to rebuild and re-energise, while giving birth to new hopes and new aspirations on a global scale.”

About Tai O Cultural and Ecological Integrated Resource Center
Tai O happens to be the oldest fishing village in Hong Kong. The Center itself is a private organisation, having a variety of artefacts and souvenirs as well as equipment and building material used by long ago residents of the village. The Center often showcases the culture of the Tai O villagers by having exhibitions, eco-tours and speciality-making classes.
