Mr Bismark took the group through the tecniques of Mantra and Silent Witness meditation
QI staff joined domestic workers from the Philippines, Indonesia and Burma, in listening to Mr Bismark speak about the importance of knowing who we truly are, followed by Mantra and Silent Witness meditation. The topic seemed especially pertinent to the women as it gave them the affirmation that, no matter the trials and tribulations one goes through, understanding the simple truth about the soul will set one free. Mr Bismark is no stranger to meditation, having started practising it since he was a teenager. His passion was infectious as was apparent through the positive feedback and relaxed smiles of the women after the two-hour session.
Mr. Bismark speaks about the importance of self awareness
As Mr Bismark says, “We are not identified by the clothes we wear, our name or where we come from. Rather, we are spirit souls and understanding that is the beginning of the journey to true happiness. Meditation falls right alongside our journey to self-awareness as it is through it that we achieve internal calmness. Mantra meditation is a process or practice of drawing the mind from material thoughts and converting that to spiritual thoughts.” The event concluded with a sumptuous vegetarian lunch which also provided QI staff the opportunity to talk to the women and get an insight into where they come from and what they’ve been through. It was truly a heart-warming experience for everyone involved. Organised in collaboration with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), the event falls under the Community Development pillar of RYTHM Foundation.
