There are more than 8,000 people who are homeless in the Kuala Lumpur city. Many claim the spiraling cost of living has driven them to the streets. . QI Group staff Navreeta Kaur @reeta1993 participated in a volunteer project last year, distributing food to the homeless in several areas in the city. She was pleasantly surprised that many of the people she served were relatively well dressed and well-spoken and had a positive attitude despite their circumstance. “These were well-educated people who ended up homeless due to unforeseen circumstances. Some even told me that they had eaten and advised me to give food to others who might be hungrier. I realised how grateful I was for everything that I have. People who have so much are constantly complaining but those who don’t have anything can teach us to appreciate every little thing,” she says.
