Thailand: 14 January 2005 – A RYTHM Foundation donation of THB10 million will help rebuild the lives and homes of the thousands of coastal Thailand residents who survived the December 2004 Asian Tsunami.
The donation will help to fund relief operations in the six coastal provinces ravaged by the Tsunami: Phuket, Phangnga, Krabi, Ranong, Satun and Trang. The main focus of the operations is to rebuild hundred of homes for the villagers.
RYTHM Foundation presented the cheque for THB10 million to the Office of the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund of Thailand at the Government House on 13 January 2005, almost three weeks after the Tsunami devastated the region.
More than 5,300 people were killed by the Tsunami that devastated the coastline, leaving a trail of popular tourist resorts in Phuket and Khao Lak in ruins. To date, there are as many as 3,500 people still missing in Thailand, with speculations that they are mostly foreign tourists.
