“Life is about living, loving, serving and being happy. Show that you care otherwise, life becomes meaningless,” she added.Through the sales of coffee, tea, brownies, egg rolls, vegetable rolls and onion sambal buns, close to RM4,000 was collected for Taarana.
QI staff from every floor at the office in Malaysia eagerly awaited tea time on July 18, the birth anniversary of the late Nelson Mandela. The high tea was a fundraiser being held for Taarana school for children with special needs and over 300 staff wanted to show their support and do their part to help.
The other major highlight of tea time were the hosts — QI Group Founder and Executive Chairman Dato’ Sri Vijay Eswaran and RYTHM Foundation Chairperson, Datin Sri Umayal Eswaran. Together, they served the snacks to all the staff who had made the purchase in aid of Taarana.
The United Nations has designated Mandela’s birth anniversary as the International Day of Service. On this day, people all over the world are encouraged to engage in acts of service or by embracing actions that inspire change.
Nelson Mandela is also a personal hero of Dato’ Sri Vijay Eswaran and has inspired our founder and many of the staff to be of service to others.
Datin Sri Umayal thanked all the employees for their support to Taarana and called on everyone to be the transformation that they wish to see in others.
“In RYTHM Foundation, we say empowering lives and transforming communities is our service. Being in service to someone is not about you or what you get out of it but it must be something that you do without any expectation,” she said.
