Watching the struggles of her ill grandmother each time she needed blood transfusion taught QI Group’s Kalyani the importance of blood donation.
.
My grandmother was in her 80s living in Sri Lanka. Those days in our country, when you needed a blood transfusion, you had to also donate blood in exchange for the blood you get. So, each time my grandmother needed blood, we had to find someone in the family to come to the hospital to donate blood,” she says.
.
Ever since, Kalyani has been determined to create awareness about blood and organ donation.
.
“You never know who you are helping by donating your blood. Someone is alive today because you made the decision to donate your blood,” she says.
