T. Murugan from QI’s Malaysia office cannot forget the teary faces of the couple who greeted him when he volunteered at a grocery distribution activity in a low-cost housing area in Malaysia.
“The husband was unemployed ever since one of his legs was amputated. His wife was also not working as she needed to care for their children as well as him. So, they depended on the generosity of friends and strangers for their daily basic needs. When they saw us bring the groceries to them, they started crying.
“It was heart-breaking for me to see the couple break down like that for something as small as groceries. I realised, what may be small for us, can be the most important thing for others. I have learnt to count my blessings and to never take anything for granted,” he says.
