QI Group staff Jobert Recamara from the Philippines has always had a fear of needles. He volunteered at an employee blood donation activity sometime back aiming to work on helping with the arrangements not intending to actually donate.
But once he got there and witnessed others donating blood and understood the importance of blood donation, he changed his mind and proceeded to donate.
“Despite watching others do it, I had never donated blood before as I was too afraid. But I realised that if I don’t do it, how can I encourage others? There is such a dire need for blood, especially during a pandemic like this. So, I took a huge step to overcome my fear and became a blood donor. I am glad I did because I know that my blood can save lives,” he says.
