On 27 July 2013, in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan, QNET held a joint iftar (breaking of daily fast) with 100 orphans at Al Anshor Foundation in Jatiwaringin, near Jakarta. The event, carried out by RYTHM Foundation, was yet another activity under the QNET Pays Forward (QNPF) programme.
The iftar was attended by a number of local celebrities including Pyramid Group Band, singer and songwriter Ageng Kiwi, singers Manda Cello and Lia Amelia, film director Aditya Gumay and other fellow artists. These celebrities entertained the children with their popular songs and inspiring words. Together, QNET and RYTHM Foundation indeed went the extra mile to make it an extraordinary event, as there was even a story-teller present, who entertained the kids with jokes and mimicry.
Earlier that day, QNET employees gathered in the spirit of RYTHM, to distribute food packages to poor families living around the Foundation. They were joined by some of QNET’s top leaders in Indonesia, namely V Council Ferry Ruskim and team; Putri and Didik, as well as Sulistiyo and team, who worked together tirelessly to bring festive cheer to these underprivileged folks.
QNET Indonesia General Manager Bangun Simbolon also gave a speech during the event. He briefly spoke about QNET and urged the children to learn English seriously and to get skillful on the Internet for a better future. Prior to breaking their fast, Director of PT QN International Indonesia Ina Rachman, gave a donation to the 100 orphans who were there. As QNET Corporate Communications Manager Wita Dahlan so aptly put it, “Ramadhan is a blessed month, a perfect time in which to be grateful and to share. It is always a good feeling to know that less fortunate families can celebrate the coming Idul Fitri like others do,” The event was covered by several media crews and was broadcasted by SCTV and Global TV.
