In an effort to improve some of the hardship that Sungai Buloh residents are living through, QI Malaysia partnered with iCareBearz to distribute food packs among the less fortunate families living in the area.
Volunteers from QI and iCareBearz started their day by meeting in a local restaurant to pack the groceries to be distributed. They were later divided into groups, with each group having one iCareBearz representative to lead them.
The beneficiaries were identified beforehand through iCareBearz’s home visits and referrals from schools in the area. Aside from distributing the food items, which the recipients happily accepted, the staff also spent time to sit down and listen to their family stories.
The outreach programme was both a fulfilling and a humbling experience for the volunteers. Yalini Ilangkainathun said, “After attending this event and seeing the suffering of others, I am really thankful for what I have in my life. There is a need for us to serve these communities, and I shall come back for the next food distribution.”
