RYTHM Foundation has recently partnered with Usha School of Athletics, an established non-for-profit organization dedicating itself to nurture and train promising female athletes in India.

Named after P.T Usha, an Olympian and famously known as the Queen of Indian Track and Field, the school was formally established in 2000 and sits on a 30-acre campus in Kinalur in Kozhikode district of Kerala, India.

As quoted by P.T. Usha, “After many years of experience in athletics, I am convinced that what we lack in India is not talent, but the basic, modern and scientific facilities.”

Under this partnership, RYTHM Foundation is sponsoring 5 young female athletes who have shown promising results under the watchful eye of coach P.T Usha. They are Elga Thomas (age 15), Prathibha Varghese (age 14), Angel Silvia (age 16), Sharika Sunilkumar (age 12) and Mayukha Vinod (age 12).

The sponsorship which will run for the next 3 years provided much needed relief for the girls and the family as they came from the underprivileged sections of the society. So, it will cover all expenses such as training, accommodation, food, sport kits, travel, medical care and formal education.

This is also in line with RYTHM Foundation’s aspirations to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals with a noble aim of leaving no one behind. For this programme, the Foundation will be working closely with our partner to ensure that the following SGDs; Good Health and Well Being (SDG 3), Quality Education (SDG 4) and Gender Equality (SDG 5) are met.
