The volunteers and the home caretakers also prepared a healthy vegetarian spread that including soup, fruit juices, eggless oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies as an afternoon snack for the residents. Our volunteers then spent time to listen to the many interesting stories that were shared by the residents.
Before ending their visit, our volunteers distributed some daily essentials such as laundry soap, shampoo, rice, biscuits and many more to assist the residents and ease the burden of the Home.
The Staff Social Responsibility (SSR) activity, which was indeed a heart-warming experience for our volunteers. The event was a successful one as the elderly citizens expressed their happiness and delight to have some good company and fun interaction.
Our volunteers were also glad to be able to help reduce the effects of social isolation, which is a significant issue in elderly homes, whereby the lack of interaction and stimulation brings about a set of health problems, including depression, cognitive decline and lower mortality rate.
